Bad Girl Reputation by Elle Kennedy
She gets it.
“Honestly?” I say quietly. “Every time I drive to Charleston to see her, I’ve given it fifty-fifty odds on whether she’ll show.” A lump forms in my throat. “So far she hasn’t missed a date.”
Gen moves closer to curl up beside me, resting her palm on my abdomen. The sweet scent of her hair wafts up to my nose. “I’m glad. And I hope to God she keeps it up. My mom’s gone, but yours still has a chance to redeem herself.”
I wrap my arm around her shoulder and plant a kiss atop her head. “I ran into your dad at the front door, by the way. He was happy to see me.”
“Uh-huh.”
“Face it, Fred. Your dad’s always loved me.”
“There’s no accounting for taste.”
“He said he’s glad you and I are getting along again.” I slide my hand down to lightly pinch her ass. “So, the way I see it, all that’s left to do now is make it official.”
“Or …”
She trails off enticingly and rolls over—directly on top of me. I’m semi-hard almost instantly, and her tiny smile tells me she notices.
“We can quit talking and take advantage of this empty house,” she finishes, and then she’s lifting my shirt up and kissing my chest, and my brain short-circuits.
A groan slips out when she undoes the button of my khakis.
“Gen,” I protest, because I know she’s trying to distract me with sex. And it’s working.
She peers up at me with big, innocent eyes. “It’s okay, baby. I don’t mind if you want to be loud.”
She’s throwing my own words back at me, uttered the night of the bonfire before I spent hours making her gasp and moan and scream. I was relentless in my seduction that night. But now it’s my turn to be weak and helpless, to fight for control as she leaves a trail of hot kisses along my stomach on her way down south.
When she takes my cock in her mouth, I give up on resisting. There’s no better feeling in the world than having Gen swallow me up. She curls one delicate hand around my shaft and sucks me deep, while her other hand strokes my chest, her nails scraping along my sensitized flesh.
I give an upward thrust, pleasure gathering inside me, pulse quickening with each languid swipe of her tongue. And as I tangle my fingers in her hair and rock against her wet, eager mouth, I tell myself that we can talk after. Later. When my heart isn’t hammering against my ribs, and my balls aren’t drawn tight with need.
But we never get around to having that talk.
CHAPTER 26
EVAN
Weeks later, I lie in my bed while Gen is getting dressed. It’s past noon, the two of us having slept in after staying up late with Mac and Cooper in a Mario Kart death match that damn near came to blows. Girls are such sore losers.
“I told you I should have gone home last night,” she grumbles.
“You see how screwed up this is,” I answer, watching as she shimmies a tiny pair of cutoff shorts up her long, tan legs. I’m still here with a semi and she’s running off to him.
“And if you’d let me go home last night, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” She ties her hair up in a ponytail and walks over to sift through the sheets for her phone.
“Stay.”
Gen lifts her head to glare at me. “Stop it.”
“I’m serious. Blow him off and let me go down on you instead.”
“Isn’t your Little Brother coming over for a barbecue today?”
“Yeah, in like an hour. Think of all the orgasms I can give you until then.”
She finds her phone tucked under my back and snatches it.
I blink innocently. “How’d that get there?”
Gen rolls her eyes before straightening up and hunting for her shirt. “You knew this was the deal. Stop acting like I changed the rules.”
The deal being that for the last several weeks, Gen and I have been going at it like it’s the end of the world, while she’s still dating Deputy Dumbfuck. Now she’s jumping out of my bed and right into his car. How is this happening?
“Guess I thought there may have been some implied amendments to that deal after you begged me to spank you last night, but sure.”
She pauses, after pulling her top on, to direct a frown my way. “And if you want to keep those spanking privileges, mind your mouth.”
For no good reason, an unbidden image of her going down on the dweeb in his cruiser flashes behind my eyes. My dick goes soft as I shake the thought. This is why I don’t ask. Very little could stop me from running up on him at the gas station and flicking a lit match his way.
And yet … “Are you sleeping with him?” I find myself blurting out.
Gen looks at me, tilting her head with sympathy as she comes to sit on the edge of the bed. She brushes her lips over mine in a fleeting caress. “No.”
At least there’s that.
“We haven’t even kissed.”
Relief floods my chest. “So then what are you getting out of it?”
With a frustrated sigh, she stands and grabs her keys from the nightstand. “Let’s not, okay?”
“I’m serious.” I sit up. “What are you getting out of it?”
She doesn’t answer, and that’s when I realize she doesn’t have to. I already know the answer. We both do. There’s only one reason she’s continuing to date Harrison despite the fact they haven’t so much as kissed—it’s her way of keeping that final bit of distance between us. Keeping me at arm’s length.
