Liar, Liar by A.R. Hall

Fiona

“Your eyes are practically glowing.” She was inches away from his face, and he was finally looking back at her.

Jasper rested his forehead on hers. “It’s the monster in me.”

“You’re not a monster.” Fiona sighed.

“I don’t want to hurt you.” His voice was strained.

“You would never.” Fiona kissed his cheek. “I trust you now the same as I did back then.”

“We shouldn’t do this.” Jasper stayed still as she placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth.

“Stay with me tonight.” She lay back.

“I should go.” He closed his eyes.

“Please.” She didn’t want him to leave.

“Let me go lock the door and turn the lights out downstairs.”

She nodded and watched as he left the room. He had to come back. She silently counted to herself and prayed he wasn’t leaving again.

Jasper returned quickly with a bag in hand. He draped his vest on the bench then went into her bathroom.

Fiona couldn’t turn away as she watched the bathroom door pop back open slightly. If you didn’t shut it all the way, it creaked open. He didn’t seem to notice, and she didn’t want to look away. He was larger than she remembered; his muscles had muscles. His jeans were tight across muscular legs and a glorious ass. She couldn’t help but bite down on her bottom lip at the thoughts that were coming to her. He wasn’t a boy like before. He was a man. A man she wanted to be very dirty with.

She finally looked away as he stripped out of his jeans to change. She closed her eyes and counted backward from one hundred.

“What are you doing?”

She opened her eyes to see him standing on the other side of the bed in athletic shorts and no shirt. She wanted to rake her nails down his chest and leave a mark. Where were these thoughts coming from?

She took the ice pack off her ankle as he crawled into bed next to her. “It’s already feeling better.” She placed the pack on her side table and turned off the lamp.

“Good. Get some sleep. You’ll need to stay off of it tomorrow too,” he whispered as she scooted closer and curled up next to him.

“Thank you,” she whispered back.

“For what?”

“For being there. For saving me again.” She let out a deep breath. “I never got to thank you for saving me life.”

“The swelling has already gone down. You’ll be all right.” He placed a kiss to her head.

“I mean from before. Jasper, what you did....”

“I’d do it all over again for you.”

She knew he meant it. Maybe one day he would open up to her. For now, she had to be happy with the fact that he was actually there. She prayed he wouldn’t leave in the middle of the night and make her think it had all been a dream.

It was too hot.Had she forgotten to turn down the AC last night? She felt sweaty. That’s when reality came crashing in. The warm body wrapped around hers, and she had a moment of panic.

Jasper.

The only reason he was there was because of her ankle. She moved the injured one, and it already felt a million times better. She probably shouldn’t put weight on it today, but it didn’t even hurt anymore.

That’s weird.

She started to ease away, but his arms only pulled her in tighter against his body. His cock hardened against her ass, and she silently cursed herself.

Why was he still here? Why had she begged him to stay?

Fiona shouldn’t have worn what she did. She knew she had pajamas that covered more of her. Why had she done it?

It had been a stupid thought to test him or tempt him. She was injured anyway. He was too big of a person to act on it—at least the old him. The truth was something she wasn’t ready to come to terms with.

She didn’t know him anymore.

He’d clearly changed since he died. She didn’t know the type of person he had become. The real question was did she want to know?

Yes.

They needed to talk, which meant he needed to wake up. She also had to pee. Fiona attempted to wiggle out of his arms, but all it did was cause him to grow harder behind her. She didn’t think that was possible. He was huge.

She felt his breath on her neck as he growled out, “Mine.”

What?Had she heard that right? “Jasper?”

“Don’t take her,” he growled out.

He must have been having a nightmare. “Jasper,” she spoke louder.

A sting came to her shoulder. Her gasp turned to a moan as the sting quickly turned to pleasure. A warming tingle spread through her body and left a trail of emotions behind her. Fear. Anger. Panic. Those emotions weren’t hers. She didn’t know how she knew… but they came from him. He’d been having a nightmare.

“Fuck!” Jasper jumped from the bed.

“What?” Her hand reached up to her shoulder. Wet. She looked down to see the bite marks healing themself.

“I’m sorry.” He paced. “I shouldn’t have come.” He grabbed his things. “I’m sorry.” He looked angry as he rushed to leave.

Fiona was in too much of a shock. He fucking left her there. Bleeding! Filled with anger, she quickly stood from the bed and went to her bathroom.

“Asshole,” she muttered to herself as she pulled the first aid kit from under the sink. She looked back at her reflection in the mirror as she wiped the blood from her shoulder. The bite had already healed, only it looked like an old scar.

She heard a motorcycle outside and went to her bedroom mirror to see Jasper leaving on one.

“Motherfucker!” She started to pace, getting this weird feeling in her gut. Something was off. There was only one person she knew she could tell. Fiona grabbed her phone from the pocket of her jeans she had been wearing the day before and dialed her brother’s number.

“What up?” he answered cheerily.

“The asshole bit me and took off on his motorcycle. I expect the both of you at my house today with answers!”

“What are you talking about, Fi?”

“Don’t play dumb with me. I don’t know how to reach him, but I know you do. I want answers, dumbass. Today!” She hung up and fell back on her bed.
