Epilogue – Kellen

Two Years Later

When I first met Jade, I was jealous. Not of her, but of the guy she was there to meet. And when he didn’t show, I was pissed. Odds were, that if he’d actually shown up, I’d have chased him off anyway—she was mine the moment I saw her, after all—but that wasn’t the point. He’d hurt Jade’s feelings, and I was determined to make him pay for doing so. Something I managed to do within a few days of returning from Jade’s and my month-long honeymoon.

At first, the guy thought I was going to beat the shit out of him. But once I had him noticeably shaking in his boots, instead of punching him in the guts like he deserved, I held out my hand in thanks. Because at the end of the day, he was the reason Jade was in the bar in the first place. And it’s also because of him that a chain of events started and saw my three brothers finding their soulmates too. That’s an entirely different story altogether. But, the point here is, the guy we all called ‘Dickhead’ ended up being our very own cupid. Which is why, when Vaughn decided to start up a cocktail menu in our little out-of-the-way tavern, he designed a cocktail called ‘Cupid’s Dick’ in his honor. And it’s our bestselling cocktail to date.

“Heya, hubby,” Jade sing-songs as she pushes into our cabin—we moved out of the apartment above the bar and into a cabin in Whisper Valley within a month of getting married—balancing our eighteen-month-old daughter, Abby, on her hip and a bag of groceries as she bustles through. I rush to her side to help.

“Why didn’t you holler, sweetheart?” I say, relieving her of the bag. “I woulda come straight out to help.”

“Oh, I didn’t want to trouble you.”

“You are never a trouble,” I say, pressing a kiss to her lips before dropping a peck on Abby’s head, too. She babbles and claps.

“Looks like she missed her daddy as much as I did today,” Jade teases, leaning in for another, longer kiss this time.

I hum with pleasure and regretfully part. “Big day at work?”

Jade sighs as she sets Abby down on her playmat. “We have a massive pet adoption drive happening at the Whisper Valley fair this weekend, and it’s a lot to organize. I just hope we find homes for most of those guys.”

Setting the groceries on the kitchen counter, I walk toward her and slide my hands around her waist. “Well, if anyone can convince someone to adopt a motley crew of animals, it’s my wife. She managed to see the good in this big lug, after all.”

Jade giggles and pushes against my chest. “I will never understand how you can’t look in the mirror and understand how hot you are. Frankly, I’m still amazed that you chose me. But…” She lifts up on her toes and presses a soft kiss to my lips as she slides her arms over my shoulders, “when our souls connected, they just knew it right. That’s why we work.”

A grin curls my lips as my hands move to the sexy globes of her ass. “Oh, I can think of a few other reasons we work too, sweetheart. You and me together… Fucking magic.”

She giggles as she nips lightly at my bottom lip. “Watch your language around the little one, Mr. Valentine.”

“OK, but the moment she’s in bed, the stuff that comes out of my mouth is going to be pure filth.”

Jade rakes her fingers through my beard as she smiles against my mouth. “I can’t wait,” she whispers, letting me know that I have indeed found my perfect mate in her.

While getting married less than twenty-four hours after meeting each other was definitely nuts, getting to spend the rest of our lives learning about each other and falling deeper and deeper in love each day is the true gift. I knew it the moment I saw her, and I know it in my heart whenever we’re in the same room—Jade and I are forever, and we didn’t need an app to find each other. Our hearts did it all on their own.
