Epilogue – Paige

Cautiously, I crept through the beach house as I made my way to Phee’s room. I knew no one would be home. Phee and her guys were at their graduation and Damon and Madden were at the shop. I wouldn’t be here if they weren’t.

It had been weeks since I’d spoken to anyone. After I found out that it was Alexander fucking Ducane who took me years earlier, I took off. I needed to finish this shit once and for all. I had iced everyone out. I knew they would try to talk me out of this, but it was my fight.

Entering her room, I felt the pang of guilt. Phee had been reaching out to me non-stop, and I knew she was worried, but her life had just started to come good again and I had the strong need to protect her, even more so now that news of Kyle’s demise had gotten out.

Taking out the letter I had written her I placed it on her side table, next to the picture of us when we were at the Rage Cage. Picking up the frame, a sad smile spread across my face. I hoped she’d understand.

When I could, I’d reach out to her, but until then I had to do this on my own. Exiting her room I made my way to Damon’s room. As I opened the door, his woodsy cologne hit me hard. The guy confused me, so hot and cold. But there was this pull. Something I’d only seen a few times with my parents, and then my cousin and Phee.

The sound of a car door slamming shut pulled me from my thoughts.

“Shit.” I cursed as I heard the garage door start to close. “Fuck.”

Running to the front door I needed to het out of here fast, I didn’t need whoever it was seeing me or trying to stop me. As my hand reached the door handle, I heard my name.

“Paige?” Damon’s shocked voice set my nerves alight.

Pausing, I hesitated a look  over my shoulder. Immediately regretting it as I through the door open, I had to go before he got a hold of me. I could see the different emotions warring behind his eyes.

Not looking back a second time I flung myself out the door, slamming it behind me and took the stairs two at a time. As I hit the driveway I heard him bare out the door.

“Game on Princess,” He yelled from the front porch, it had me stop dead in my tracks as I slowly turned towards him. I’m guessing he settled on anger cause judging from the look on his face, something told me I’d just poked the angry bear. “You can run Paige, but you can’t hide. I’m coming for you, when I get my hands on you, you won’t be running anywhere again,”

The End………
