Hitman’s Secret by Rosa Mink

Chapter 5

Marko

Thank the fuck for honed instincts about being alone or not, no matter how damn perfect kissing that sweet girl is, it didn’t override my instincts, that natural hunter part of me.  Half a minute later and we’d both likely be dead; well, hurting perhaps because the ass moving towards me isn’t even close to being enough to take me out easily.

He charges, and I take the brunt of his weight, slamming him into the door I just put Natalia behind.  No fucking way am I leaving her out here to potentially be harmed.  That fucking angel is not dying.

“Kissing the mark?  Really unprofessional, Marko,” Garth sneers my way, his knee lifting to land a hit and I side-step it, letting him up so we’re not close enough for body hits.

“Following me?” I state keeping track of his movements as he slides away from the door.

“Ono wants the girl dead, sent me to make sure you did the job soon,” he replies.

“I’ll get it done, have to get her off campus first though you fucktard, doing it here is way too dangerous with bodyguards watching her ass all the time,” I offer although none of it’s true.

“You don’t kiss a mark like that, not even to get them out of the way.  You’ve been watching her way too much and Ono won’t be happy about it.  So now, I’m going to handle it,” Garth claims and I laugh, shaking my head at the ignorant ass.

A smirk lights my face because this guy isn’t taking me down.  “You’re forgetting one thing here, Garth.”

“Like hell,” he returns, cracking his knuckles.

“Oh, you are, because you’re just a lousy ass beater.  I’m the killer and you’re going down before you ever lay a hand on her,” I state watching his hands and I know the instant he’s going for the gun.

“You’re not the only one who can use a gun,” he counters and I’m already moving, grabbing the gun, a silencer on it telling me he was prepared for this.

He lands a hit to my side bringing my arm down and his finger squeezes the trigger, shooting straight into Natalia’s room.  It makes me see red and I flip him around, snapping his neck in less than a second, dropping him to the ground.

“And you weren’t the only one capable of murder by bare hands,” I state giving his corpse a kick as I move back to the door, not bothering with knocking or anything.  I give it a hard kick, panic slicing through me.  I swear if that motherfucker hit my angel…

I nearly fall to my knees seeing her frightened wide-eyed expression huddle on her bed as I move across broken glass to get to her.  She’s terrified and I know she’ll hate my life, but I won’t give it up, I can’t now that I’ve taken out Garth.  As soon as Ono hears about it, it won’t be just Natalia with a hit on her, I’ll have a motherfucking giant target on my back as well.

I run my hands all along her sweet body, ensuring she wasn’t hit, and I cup her head, lifting those gorgeous damn lips to mine.  My entire body is keyed up and all I want is to make her mine, right now.  I can’t though, it’s too dangerous and I don’t know how long it’ll be before someone discovers Garth in the hallway.

“What…” she starts to say, stopping with her chin quivering slightly, and I hate the sight of it.

“You’re safe, angel.  No matter what, you’re safe.  I’ll keep you safe,” I promise grabbing a bag from the other side of the room, stuffing clothes into it before I lift her from the bed, giving her a soft kiss that’s the complete opposite of me.  I’m not soft, not at all.

“Who…who are you?” she asks as I move us towards the door.

“Marko,” I answer, sliding her bag over her head seeing the hallway clear still.  “Do not move from behind me, understood?” I ask moving to grab Garth, take him to be discarded, hopefully giving us a few hours to get out of here.

“Okay…” she says, stopping in the doorway when she spots him on the floor.  “Who is he?”

“A beater, he beats people up to get loans paid,” I admit, tossing him over my shoulder before grabbing her hand.  “I’ll tell you the rest when we’re out of here, right now, I need you to come with me, angel.  Will you?”

“Yes,” she answers, a little breathless, her voice shaking but her hold on me is just as tight as mine on her.

“Good, your guards don’t watch the back, they only stay on the front door.  I’ll double-check and then we’re out of here.  I have to dump him to give us some more time,” I offer as we head down the stairwell.

She nods as I glance at her and hurry us down the rest of the steps knowing Garth won’t be the last.  Ono won’t give up, not until she’s dead which means I have to take him down first to keep her alive.
