Doctor Daddy’s Long Lost Little by Scott Wylder
CHAPTER TEN
Bryce
"Well, that was embarrassing," I said as I undid my tie. "I'm a little annoyed that you accepted a dinner invitation from your father before consulting me about it." Bethany sighed and shook her head as she looked at me.
"What was I supposed to do?" she asked as she stared at me. "Go right into the bathroom with the water running, giving him the wrong idea about us? Father wanted an answer right away." I shook my head as we both made our way to the bedroom.
"Are you embarrassed of me?" I asked, and she shook her head.
"No, of course not," she said. "I just don't need Father getting the wrong idea and trying to arrange our marriage before we're ready for it if ever." I sighed and shook my head.
"Really?" I asked. "Well, if you really must know, I do plan on eventually marrying you as soon as I can get you to say yes. Now, I feel like you're going to run away from me." She stopped and looked at me, frozen in confusion.
"No, I would never want to run away from you," she protested as she looked at me. "I love you too much to do that to you." I looked at her and raised an eyebrow at her.
"You do know I will have to punish you for this," I told her as I smiled evilly at her. "Get upstairs and go to the bedroom. I'll be up in a minute." She nodded and took off up the stairs as I made my way to the kitchen to put away the leftovers.
Her family was thrilled to know I was back, and they had automatically assumed that we were together after I answered her phone for her. I knew I should have checked the caller ID before answering it, but I was more distracted by the fact that Bethany was in the other room, covered in blood. This was my fault, and I knew it.
Thankfully, her family was happy to see me again, which meant that they didn't know about the fight we had back in high school or they had forgiven me. Either way, I was grateful for the change. Now, after a long dinner of them asking me about what I planned to do now that I was back, I would finally get to be alone with Bethany again.
The sound of someone knocking on the door made me stop dead in my tracks as I was on my way up the stairs. I frowned as I wondered who was at my door at this time of night. Mom and Dad would be asleep right now, and Bethany's parents didn't know where I lived, unless they followed us. Cautiously, I opened the door, revealing Trent.
"What are you doing here?" I asked as I sighed in relief. "You scared the shit out of me." Trent chuckled.
"Sorry, man," he said as he smiled at me. "I just thought I'd check in with you since you disappeared at my playgroup." I smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, sorry about that," I told him as I smiled politely at him. "Something came up, and I had to leave." Trent smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, I heard about you and Kristina," he said as his smile turned sad. "I thought you were going to stay away from her." I frowned in confusion at him.
"What are you talking about?" I asked. "I never touched Kristina. I was with Bethany all night." Trent frowned in confusion at me.
"Bethany?" he asked, and I nodded. "Bethany was with Matt, Joshua, and Jared last night." I shook my head.
"I assure you she wasn't," I told him. "They tried, but I stopped them from hurting her." Trent shook his head at me as he took a deep breath.
"That's even better than what I heard," he said as he smiled. "So, did you guys…? You know…?" I shook my head.
"A Daddy never kisses and tells," I told him with a mischievous grin. "Now, I don't know about you, but I want to know why Kristina was saying she was with me when I never even saw her last night." Trent shrugged.
"She's an attention whore," he said, a strange look on his face. "Littles like that are nothing but trouble." I tilted my head at him skeptically.
"Is that truly what you think about Kristina?" I asked. "Or is there more to her than you're letting on to?" He sighed and shook his head.
"You got me," Trent admitted as he shook his head. "I miss her, but she left me to go whore around. So, I had to move on." I raised an eyebrow at him.
"That's not what she says," I informed him, and he shook his head.
"I know what she says," he told me as he shook his head. "Trust me, I hate it, but I love her. Women like her aren't meant for one man, though." I sighed and shook my head.
"You've been drinking, haven't you?" I asked, and he nodded.
"Maybe a little," he admitted as he looked at me. "I didn't know what else to do after hearing the talk about Kristina and you…" I smiled and shook my head.
"Why don't you stay in one of my guest rooms?" I suggested. "You can stay the night and go home in the morning. Maybe, once you're sober, you can talk to Kristina and try to talk things out with her. Does that sound like a good idea?" Trent nodded.
"Can I sleep on your couch?" he asked as he looked over at the stairs. "I don't think I can make it up those stairs." I nodded.
"Of course," I told him as I smiled at him. "You go lay down, and I'll go get some spare blankets." He nodded and stumbled his way to the couch in my living room as I closed the front door and locked it before making my way up the stairs.
I felt bad for Trent, in all honesty. The poor man had been in love with Kristina for years, and she always treated him like dirt on her shoes. It wasn't right, and I always hated her for it more than I hated how she had tried to get between Bethany and I. I froze when I got to the bedroom and saw Bethany's naked form on the bed. She frowned as I made my way to the closet.
"Is something wrong?" she asked sweetly as she sat up. I nodded.
"Trent's downstairs, and I'm having him stay over," I told her. "He is pretty drunk and shouldn't be driving." She nodded understandingly.
"Should I just put on my pajamas?" she asked, and I nodded.
"I'll save your punishment for tomorrow," I said as I winked at her. "I don't want Trent hearing us." She nodded, and I went back downstairs to care for my drunken friend, thankful to have an understanding Little like Bethany.
