Mama’s Boy by Avery Flynn
Chapter Fifty-Seven
Fiona
Who was she?
Who in the hell was he to even ask her that?
She took another gulp from the bottle of flat champagne as she sat on her couch in her dark living room and followed it with a cookie-dough chaser. She’d done it again, the one thing she promised herself she would never do.
She’d been the sucker.
The gullible jerk.
The fool.
And look where it had gotten her. She was stone-cold sober no matter how much of the bottle she downed and crying in her living room once again.
Her life was just one fucking circle.
Her phone buzzed again and again and again, but she didn’t bother to read the messages on the sibling group text. Everyone thought she was on a romantic date with Dixon. If they only knew. God, she was glad they didn’t. She really couldn’t take the pats on her head and the let-us-take-care-of-you-you-silly-Fiona sentiments.
Who was she?
She was the woman with the broken heart who’d trusted the wrong man.
Again.
And she had no idea how to change herself so that it never happened again—but the thing was, she didn’t think she wanted to be New Fiona anymore. She missed being herself.
