The Jealous Groom by Alexa Riley

Chapter 6

Amber

Henrik squeezes my hand tight as he guides me to the carriage. I can sense the tension in his body because he wants to pounce on the guy. It really should annoy me how jealous Henrik can get, but it doesn't. He doesn't want to share me with anyone, and as crazy as that might be, I find comfort in that knowledge.

Either the driver has a death wish or he’s not reading the room, because he jumps down when we get beside the carriage.

“Let me help you, ma’am,” he says with a wink.

Here we go.

Henrik moves in front of me like a panther and then lunges for the guy. In one quick move he picks him up by the collar of his shirt and lifts him off the ground.

“You dare to look at my wife?” I thought I’d pissed Henrik off when I kneed him in the balls, but clearly I was wrong. Right now his face is murderous.

“I’m sorry,” the driver coughs, trying to get out of his hold.

“Oh, you’ll be far more than sorry in a second.” He releases him and the man crumples to the ground with a loud thud. Before Henrik can pounce on him again, I grab his arm. He stills and then turns to look at me. His eyes calm as he lets out a slow breath.

“The sight of blood makes me ill,” I tell him, and he nods.

“I could hurt him without making him bleed.” A wicked smile spreads across his face.

I shift in front of him, grabbing his shirt and pulling him down for a kiss. He doesn't fight me as he gives me what I’m asking for. His hands go to my ass as our tongues meet, and for a small moment I almost forget what’s going on around us.

I break the kiss breathlessly when I feel Henrik’s hard cock pressing into my stomach. I steal a peek over my shoulder to see the driver still sitting there on the ground.

“Run, dumbass,” I hiss at him. When I feel Henrik begin to move, I shake my head. “No.”

“I’m not a dog.”

“That’s yet to be determined.” A surprise laugh bubbles up from him, and he smiles so sweetly. “Aren’t we supposed to be getting married, or would you rather have a street brawl?”

“You don’t have to twist my arm to get me to marry you.”

“It’s like you want me to knee you in the balls again,” I challenge, fighting a smile.

“Nah. You want my cock too much to risk it.” I sigh and feel my lips curve up. “You’re fucking breathtaking, but when you smile it’s something else altogether. You know that?” My heart flutters at his sweet words. “I’m sorry about that, but I’m still learning to control myself when it comes to you.”

“Do you think it will ever happen?” He shakes his head, and I roll my eyes before I kiss him again. “Who’s going to drive us now?”

He helps me get up into the carriage and follows after me. A moment later I see a man jog over and get in the front.

“Can you make people appear out of thin air?”

“Ask and you shall receive.” I tap my lips with my finger, thinking it over. “It might be easier if you made a list,” he suggests.

“I can do that.”

He puts his arm around me, and I settle against him. This really is romantic. I’ve never experienced something like this before, and that’s the thing with Henrik. He’s always letting me experience things I’ve never known were possible. Sometimes it's exhilarating and other times it scares the crap out of me. But no matter what, he gives me the push he knows I need.

“That way.” He nods, and I let out a small gasp.

Up ahead I see beautiful clear blue water, but what holds my attention are the double rainbows that fall across it.

“Oh my god, Henrik, it’s a sign from the universe. Lindsey told me she saw one the day before our brother Darian got his patent and it changed our lives. Double rainbows are a symbol of transformation and are a sign of good things to come.”

“See? Even the universe is telling you we should get married.”

“How’d you order a rainbow?” I eye him. “Is it drones or something?”

“I love that mind of yours, baby girl.” I sink my teeth into my bottom lip. It always turns me on when he calls me that. I have no clue why, but he obviously picked up on it.

“I think you know a lot more about me than I realize.” I was so sure we needed time to get to know each other more. But we already understand each other. Maybe not favorite colors or pizza toppings, but we know the stuff that’s really important.

“I notice every breath you take.”

Why have I been running so hard from him? Henrik and I fit together perfectly. I think he's the only man that can actually handle me.

“I don’t doubt that,” I say, looking up at him.

“I have something for you.” He pulls a box out from below us, and my mouth falls open.

“Is that real?” He gives me a look that says, Are you really asking me that?

“Lean down for me.” He pulls the crown out from inside the box and holds it up to the light.

The whole thing is covered in diamonds and jewels, and it sparkles as he places it on my head. It fits perfectly, and I try not to fidget while thinking I might look silly with a crown on. Henrik only goes and proves once again he knows me all too well.

“That crown is yours and yours alone. For my queen.” He leans in close. “My baby girl.” Holy hell. Now I want to pounce on him.

“I love it.” I want to say I love him too. His story about his parents really hit home, because it feels the same for us.

He reaches into the box again.

“There’s more?”

“Always.” He smirks, pulling out a ring.

A ruby sits in the center, and the color reminds me of my hair. I’m sure it’s no coincidence. It’s surrounded by a halo of diamonds, and I hold my hand out as he slips it on my finger. My eyes sting with tears. This is all so much.

“I could assault someone with this thing.” I hold my hand up, feeling the weight of the rock.

“If you wish.” He shrugs, making me giggle.

“I’ll keep you in line with it.” He kisses me and then bites my lip.

“We’re here.” I turn to see the beautiful church with stairs leading up to its ornate doors, and people line the street along the way.

Henrik steps down, offering me his hand. When my feet hit the ground, everyone starts cheering. They part as we make our way up to the church doors, which open to let us in.

“Are you ready to be my wife?”

“I truly am,” I tell him as he pulls me into his side and we walk down the aisle together.

Henrik gives me the wedding I never knew I’d dreamed of. I have no doubt the same will happen tonight when he makes me his in every way.
