On the Prowl by Kate Rudolph

Epilogue

When Em invitedAndre to the studio, he couldn't say no. She took the time specially even though they still had another few weeks of the tour, and she was using up one of her few free days to get the song in her head recorded.

She'd been working on it for a while. And every time he asked about it, she stuffed the little notebook she was working on away and refused to say a word.

At first, Andre had been a bit offended. But he realized he was just seeing her process. She didn't want to share anything until she was ready.

And now she was ready and she was sharing it with him.

They met the producer, and then Andre was directed to take a seat on the couch in the back. He didn't know exactly what was going to happen.

His knowledge of what went on in a music studio was contained mostly to VH1 specials and movies. But now this was the real thing. Em picked up a guitar and played a few chords for the producer, and after a few moments, they were ready to get to work.

And when she opened up her mouth, Andre was rapt.

She spoke of darkness, of the night, and the moon, and of magic. It was all metaphor to someone who didn't know what their lives were like.

But he was hearing the story of the two of them put into words for anyone to hear.

It was a love song. Their love song. And if Em didn't already own his entire heart, he would've given it to her in that minute.

Their eyes locked, and she looked at him through the soundproof glass. Andre pushed himself up from the couch and got closer so he could watch her sing.

After the chorus, she stopped and spoke to the producer again. And then she turned to him.

"What do you think?"

Andre just grinned. "I love it."

"It still needs some work."

"I can't wait to see what you do with it."

With his heart. With his life. Because they were together now and weaving their own kind of magic. And there was no going back.

And Andre couldn't wait to hear more of the music they would create.
