Hunted By Firelight by Krista Street

Chapter 26

~ AVERY ~

A wave of power barreled into the room, but I barely noticed it as erotic sensations washed through me again and again. A mouth was attached to my neck, sucking and pulling, as fire raged through my veins. But it wasn’t enough. I needed more.

A ferocious roar tore from someone’s throat, bone-chilling rage coating that single guttural sound.

The mouth sucking my neck vanished. Cool air washed over my skin. The body that had been on top of me was gone. A chill settled upon me, and I whimpered in confusion.

The fog in my mind grew heavier and denser.

And the fire. Gods, the fire inside my core burned and burned. Fuck. I wanted to fuck.

Another roar filled my ears, a savage inhuman roar.

“Wyatt, no!” someone yelled.

The sound of limbs being pummeled.

The sickening sound of flesh being ripped.

A strangled cry before someone yelled, “Wyatt, you can’t!”

Then a rush of air and hands were on me.

“Avery!” someone yelled. A hand tilted my neck, and a snarl followed. “He compelled her and drank from her!”

I opened my eyes, my brain so sluggish, but the need was so great.

Hands were touching me, and the scent that accompanied the hands—oak and pine. Gods, he smelled good.

Yes. Touch me!

I moaned and writhed, wrapping my legs around his hard body. I sought his cock, needing it in me.

Another angry growl. “Fucking hell, she’s still in his thrall, and we need to get her out. Now!”

“Wyatt, I didn’t . . . we weren’t . . .” a sluggish voice called. “She gave us a drink that was—”

“Shut the fuck up!” the man holding me roared.

A kick thumped against flesh, and a pained groan followed.

Another man bent toward the one on the floor.“Wyatt, we still have to evacuate him! Even if he drank from her.”

“No! Leave him. The bloodsucker dies! Compulsion on a wolf’s mate is punishable by death!”

Then my body was off the bed. The hot, hard hands gripping me threw me over a shoulder.

“No,” I moaned. My eyes drifted back in my head as the unrelenting rapture again consumed me. I rubbed my thighs together as I jostled on the shoulder.

I needed release. I needed to climax.

But we were moving. Running.

Oh Gods. The fire inside me. It was going to burn me alive. I needed to be filled. I needed a cock inside me. The cock that belonged to the man that smelled of oak and pine. Something about him called to me. I needed him.

But the world turned into a blur.

Air rushed past me as we flew up and around, up and around.

We were in a staircase, spiraling, going to the surface.

But the man wasn’t fucking me, and I was going to die if he didn’t fuck me!

“Please! Please!” I sobbed.

A guttural growl so loud and burning with so much rage was the only answer I got.

Why isn’t he fucking me?

Then the sun was on my face.

A warm breeze on my cheeks as I was jostled on the man’s shoulder.

Now we were running outside.

Shouts.

Vibrations.

Cries of pain.

Trees swirling through the sky.

Magic everywhere.

Is this a war?

“How could he? How could he?” someone growled over and over while the world was a blur of color, magic, and explosions as we raced as silently as a ghost. “I was finally starting to trust him.”

We reached a clearing and stopped.

Sunlight bathed my face.

But the need. The need inside me was so great, and nobody was taking it away!

“We’re ready for her,” someone called.

I was heaved off the shoulder, placed back on the ground. My body swayed, air kissed my skin, and a vague part of me realized something was wrong with me.

Wait. No. I needed the man in front of me.

That’s what was wrong.

I began to peel my shirt over my head, but his hands stopped me.

I snarled, anger consuming me. Why was he stopping me?

Moss-green eyes that bled to gold stared down at me. “You need to get out of here, Little Flower. I can only pray you stay safe on earth.”

Little Flower?

Then someone gripped me from behind.

The man with moss-green eyes released me. He took a step back. Blood smeared his naked chest. “Take her to headquarters.”

“Yes, sir,” the person behind me replied. He gripped my arm and began to say words I couldn’t understand. “Open key for though I ask, I need a door for—”

A flash of something whipped past me.

“NO!” The man with moss-green eyes lunged forward, a look of horror coating his face, but somebody else had grabbed me. Somebody extremely powerful and incredibly fast.

So fast.

“Avery!” the man coated in the scents of oak and pine yelled.

But I disappeared into the trees, and the trees moved, closing around us. The world turned into a dizzying blur as the person carrying me moved like the wind.

“Finally, I have you, and the goddess’s power will be mine. Finally, it will be mine.”

A portal appeared in front of us, and the man’s arms wrapped around me. Something poked my neck, and a rush of cold doused my veins as blackness started to descend on my vision.

A guttural roar came from the man with moss-green eyes. It was filled with so much fury and fear that the force of it threatened to consume me. He tore through the trees, desperation blazing in his eyes before he leaped.

The tall man holding me laughed, and then the portal winds swallowed us whole.
