Earlier this year I was cleaning out my storage locker and found my Grade 12 yearbook. There was a section where we could write down items that were on our bucket list, and I wrote ‘write a novel’. Fast forward nearly a decade, and here we are.

Not in a million years did I ever think I would finish writing a novel, let alone get it published. It is honestly surreal, and I could have not done it without the help of several very important people.

To Melanie Kumar, thank you for your continuous support and always making the time to read my chapters. Your input, encouragement, and friendship mean the world to me.

To my good friend Alice Xu, this book would not exist without you. From endless brainstorming sessions on plot points and character development, you have been there with me every step of the way and I am so happy that our lives collided.

To Jessica Hansen, my birthday twin, your friendship has been a blessing. Your selflessness, support, and kind words have gotten me through a difficult year, and I am truly grateful that we have grown so close.

Often, dreams we have as children are seen as only dreams, but I have learned that with the right people in your corner, a dream is just a distant reality.
