Part of me hated the fact that I had just asked that question, especially when she choked on air.  However, I didn't know how exactly to break the ice after Nancy made fun of the way I had accidentally friend-zoned Bethany, who was actually a Little, much to my surprise.  I didn't know what else to do.  I was still wondering why she had been at the party, and the question seemed like it was the perfect way to answer the question.

"I could ask you the same thing," she said as she stared at me from across the table.  "After all, it was a Littles and Daddies party."  She then looked at me.  "Are you a Daddy?  Or were you there for Trent, advising him on what sick fuck Daddies not to invite to the party?"  I sighed and shook my head.

"Alright, I'll admit it," I told her as I smiled at her.  "I'm a Daddy."  I smiled sheepishly.  "Are you embarrassed at how I've turned out?"  She shook her head.

"No, I'm not," she told me as she smiled at me.  "Are you embarrassed at the fact that I'm a Little?"  I shook my head at her.

"No, of course not," I told her.  "I'll admit I was a bit shocked when I realized it was you, but, after you mentioned Kristina, I realized that it wasn't as surprising as I first thought."  She frowned as she looked at me.

"I'm sorry, what?" she asked as she stared at me.  "Why do you assume it was because of Kristina?"  I sighed and shook my head.

"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that," I told her as I winced.  "I guess I was a little less surprised when you told me Kristina was there."  Realizing how much worse that sounded, I shook my head.  "I mean…"  She motioned for me to stop.

"I get it," she said, stopping me from my embarrassing ramble.  "Trust me, you don't have to worry about it.  I'll admit I was surprised when you turned up, too."  She smiled and shook her head.  "Honestly, I never thought you would come back."  I smiled and shook my head.

"Honestly, I never thought I'd come back," I admitted.  "I got a call last month, and my dad was retiring early thanks to Mom's health.  So, he wanted me to come back so he could pass along the family business after graduating."  She nodded in agreement.

"That's really sweet of you," she said as she smiled at me.  "My dad made me VP of the bank, but I think he's waiting for me to get married so that he can watch me start a family of my own.  He's already got my replacement lined up and everything."  I frowned as I stared at her.

"Really?" I asked.  "That has to suck."  She shrugged and shook her head.

"Kinda," she said as she smiled at me, "especially since Dad's kinda hoping that I'll end up with my replacement…"  I frowned at her.

"Really?" I asked as I looked at her.  "Shit…"  Nancy finally showed up at the waters.

"Are you ready to order?" she asked, cutting off our conversation, and I looked at Bethany.

"What do you want to order?" I asked, and she smiled at me.

"Guess," she demanded, and I smiled as I looked over at Nancy.

"Two everything breakfasts, both the exact same," I told her.  "Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, crispy hash browns, and buttermilk pancakes.  With one, add two over easy eggs on the side.  The other needs the ham steak.  We'll also need two cups of coffee, no creamer."  Nancy sighed and shook her head as she jotted down the order.

"Some things never change," she muttered under her breath.  Bethany chuckled.

"You mean like you?" Bethany asked, and Nancy narrowed her eyes at her.  I nodded in agreement.

"Again, we still want a new waiter," I said, and Nancy nodded and made her way to the kitchen.  Once we were alone again, I smiled at Bethany.  "That was ridiculous."  She nodded in agreement.

"So, are you seeing anyone?" she asked.  "Or is that part of the reason why you were there at the party?"  I shook my head.

"I just got back to town, and Trent told me about the party," I informed her.  "We kept in contact for the last eight years, so it felt like a bit of a welcome home party more than a playgroup."  Bethany nodded in agreement.

"Some welcome home party," she said as she slipped her water.  "Sorry I ruined it for you."  I shook my head at her.

"Actually, you didn't," I told her.  "I was actually looking for an excuse to leave this entire time.  There were too many Littles that were throwing themselves at me, and it was getting to be a bit much.  I hate the slutty Littles that are always throwing themselves around.  It's like watching a little girl play dress up and pretend to be a stripper.  It's the exact opposite of what I'm looking for in a Little."  I nodded in agreement.

"The Daddies aren't any better," she admitted as she smiled a little.  "After all, you saw the way those three were acting."  I nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, that was pretty terrible," I agreed.  "Trent insisted on inviting them, but I didn't like the idea at all.  They were the worst in high school."  Bethany nodded.

"I know!" she said as she smiled at me.  "You remember the time they roofied the punch at prom and made off with three of the girls before getting caught?  I was wondering why they never ended up in prison."  I shrugged and shook my head.

"Honestly, I don't know," I told her.  "In all honesty, it's a miracle they made it this long."  Bethany sighed and nodded in agreement.

"So, are you here to stay this time?" she asked.  "Or are you going to be getting out of here pretty soon?"  I sighed and shook my head.

"Actually, I'm going to be staying," I told her.  "After all, someone's got to stay close in case Mom and Dad need me.  Besides, I think I might have found something worth staying in town for."  Bethany smiled and blushed as she stared down at the table.

"Really?" she asked, and I nodded.

"That is if you'll…" I began, but Nancy charged out of the kitchen with our food.

"Look out!" she shouted as she lurched forward, and the food spilled off the tray and all over Bethany.
