The Dragon’s Chance by Jessie Donovan

Author’s Note

Thanks for reading Jake and Sylvia’s story! This one was difficult for many reasons, the foremost being that Sylvia’s personality is so very different from mine and I had the devil of a time writing her. But in the end, I think it turned out well. And let’s just say that steamy scenes with a nursing mother is another difficulty, and one I hope I don’t have to do again for a while. (I’ve done two this year—this book and The Survivor in my Kelderan Runic Warriors series. Sigh to the lack of more nipple play…oops, did I just say that?) Of course you’ll see Jake and Sylvia pop up in future books since I have four more MacAllisters (the older ones) to write stories for. :)

This book also set up a few stories. Besides a little more on Connor and Aimee, you also got a peek at Logan and Emma, as well as Iris and Antony. And while a lot of people wanted Iris to be with Max, they just don’t fit and never really have. (Max has his own Aussie dragon lady love to worry about, once she stops stealing all his dig sites, of course.) Max’s older brother, on the other hand, is perfect for Iris in so many ways. I’m very much looking forward to the May-December story of theirs, for sure. Logan and Emma’s story should be fun and emotional as well, and is next in the Lochguard series. At the moment the release order for these are: 1) Logan & Emma, 2) Iris & Antony, and 3) Aimee & Connor (unless Ian’s story demands to be before his brother’s).

And I’ll also hint that there is more to Katrina Lau than you know. (She worked with Antony in this story, remember.) The truth of her identity will surprise you, and lead to a story of her own. But that is news for another day….

Curious yet?

And now, I have some people to thank for getting this out in the world:

  • To Becky Johnson and her team at Hot Tree Editing. They always catch the little things and Becky helps keep my British characters sounding, well, British, LOL.
  • To all my beta readers—Sabrina D., Donna H., Sandy H., and Iliana G., you do an amazing job at finding those lingering typos and minor inconsistencies.

And as always, a huge thank you to you, the reader, for sticking with me. Writing is the best job in the world and it's your support that makes it so I can keep doing it. If you've read the books and want to support me in another way, almost all of my dragon-shifter audiobooks either are, or will be soon, available in libraries around the globe. Take a listen and enjoy some lovely accents!

Until next time, happy reading!
