Bariloche Sector by Lexi C. Foss

This book might be one of the hardest I’ve ever written. It wasn’t the story that I struggled with so much as Kari’s voice. She’s so incredibly broken. She took me to such a dark place, perhaps the darkest I’ve ever visited within my own mind. It was a depressing experience, but it blossomed into a tale of beauty and strength.

That said, I feel it’s important to warn readers that this book is emotionally distressing. Kari is at the heart of her depression when her story begins, and it bleeds off the pages. She’s suicidal, shattered, and hopeless. If you’re struggling with sad feelings or easily swayed by depressive material, I would reconsider reading this book. Or start at Part II, where her healing journey begins.

This is a story of growth and strength and power. But for Kari to become the wolf she needs to be, she has to overcome her past.

While other books in this series contain underlying themes of dubious consent, this one focuses on the nurturing aspects of a healing relationship. There are strong elements of non-consent from Kari’s past, but this book focuses more on her present and future.

As such, Sven is a different kind of Alpha. He’s thoughtful and meticulous, and while he pushes Kari in his own way, he’s more respectful about it than other Alphas in this world. He’s what Kari needs, even if she doesn’t want to admit it.

This story broke my heart. But the end was worth the pain.

I hope you enjoy the final installment of the X-Clan series. And hopefully, we will meet again when I introduce the V-Clan sectors of this world.

Hugs,

Lexi
