CHAPTER 21:  Terry

Terry cautiously made his way toward Maggie. She stood in the parking lot, face flushed as she spoke on the phone.

“Yes, you can pick me up—”

“I’ll take you wherever you need to go.”

She glared at him. His hand itched to put her over his knee and paddle that bottom. It’d be soft and pliable. His cock began to harden. If he didn’t have her soon, he’d be embarrassing himself in public.

“I’m at Mattie’s—”

“Hang up the phone.” He used his sternest tone.

She shifted away from him. “Machines. I’ll be waiting.” She hung up the phone, turning toward him. “Go away. I don’t want to talk to you right now.”

“Maggie, I brought your car here instead of the other garage because I know Mattie. He’s a friend and I knew he’d tell me”—at her glare he amended—“you the truth about the car.”

She clenched her jaw for a moment and then said, “I know you were doing what you thought was best and I appreciate all you’ve done for me but—”

“Let me help you with this.” He stepped closer to her. “You need a car. I can loan you one of mine.”

“No. You’ve done too much already and…I can’t repay you.” She cleared her throat. “I can take care of myself.”

“I’m sure you can, but I want to do it. I have an extra car sitting in my garage and taking up space.”

“Figures.” She laughed but it was a pained sound and her eyes filled with tears.

“Honey.” He pulled her into his arms. “I got you. It’ll be okay.”

“No, it won’t.” She clung to him, sobbing against his chest.

“It will. I promise. Let me help you.” He rested his cheek against her head. She felt so good in his arms, warm and soft. He couldn’t stop his dick from responding so he made sure that he kept his pelvis away from her. This was about getting her to trust him. Sex would come later, but hopefully, not much later.

“You’ve already helped me so much and for what? Some stupid cookies?”

“Hey,” He lightly swatted her ass and she squeaked, her head snapping upward. Lord help him, a spark of passion danced in her hazel eyes. They were going to be so good together. “Don’t say anything bad about those cookies. They were the highlight of my week.”

“Really?”

“Yes.” His hand rested on the small of her back. “That and seeing you.” Without those kids.

She bit her lip and he leaned down. He had to kiss her. He’d die if he didn’t. He’d literally perish on the spot. His lips met hers. She hesitated only a moment before opening for him. She was so damn giving that he was rock hard in an instant. He pulled her against him.

“See what you do to me.” He nipped her lip and kissed a trail across her neck and up to her ear. He had to have her. “Come home with me.”
