Yours to Keep by Claudia Burgoa
Vance
Dear Vance,
You may ask, why did he give my letter to Beacon?
Secretly, I was hoping he’d break into Jerome’s house, steal his letter, and share it with you. If he didn’t, I’m guessing the kid has matured. I’m glad, but I hope he doesn’t lose his fun side. So, after you spent eighteen months with your brothers and away from your unit, I’m going to ask you for a favor, leave them. They are dangerous, and I’m afraid of what they can do to you and your brothers in the future. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about.
You were raised to defend and protect. There are other ways to do it. Find them. If not, there’s always a second option, find a new passion. You probably know about Herbert Sanders by now. He might be able to guide you. The man is wise. I wish…he’d have been a better father for you. You might hate me even more for having more children and for making a mess out of everyone's lives. I hope that you all make the best out of the lemons that I threw.
I’m proud of you.
Love,
W.
