Yours to Keep by Claudia Burgoa
Beacon
Dear Beacon,
Your first word was Dada. I was there when you said it. It was as if you reached for my heart and took it away. I love all your brothers, but you…you have some kind of charm and magic that makes people feel special when they are around you. I didn’t want to let you go. You were the reason I thought we should drop the charade and get all my boys together in one place. They deserve to be a family.
It backfired, and I owed you a family. I tried it again after I died. Did it work? I hope it did. Were you able to stay in one place? I imagined you broke the rules a few times. You don’t like to be in one place, do you?
I don’t know what to tell you that you don’t already know, except that I love you. Thank the Bradleys for being who Janelle and I couldn’t be for you.
Keep playing your music so I can listen to it from wherever I am, kid.
Love,
Dada
P.S. About all the letters I left for you, I’m sure you already know about Herbert. He works for The Organization. If not, contact him, and he’ll tell you who he is. Welcome your other brothers and sisters, please. You always wanted a big family, no?
