Kite In The Snow by Karla Lopez

I take the letter and place it in the box of letters that my son has sent me over the years. I stare at the pictures a little longer, at his beautiful family. A family I’ll never know, only through him.

My boy is just like his mama, all good. I’m so happy he got the life that I always wanted with his mother. He deserves it.

I hug the pictures to me and lie in my cell, wishing for another life.
