His Curvy Beauty by Lana Love

Chapter 4

Boyd

Ipull Sonia into a bear hug and kiss her with an intensity that surprises even me. She can’t hide her surprise, but the tension of surprise melts away immediately and she returns my kiss with a lusty passion. Sonia feels perfect in my arms and I realize that Sonia is the woman I never thought I’d find. There is a happiness flowing through me that takes my breath away. If this is just the first kiss, what will the second be like? The third? The hundredth? The millionth?

Sonia’s eyes are dilated when we pull apart, but the smile on her lips is the purest form of happiness I’ve ever seen. I never thought someone would be happy because of me and look at me the way she’s looking at me. My heart thumps as I realize this is my chance. She fits with me in a way that brings out a fierce possessiveness in me.

Sonia is mine and I will protect her at all cost.

The girls who were bothering her turn and walk away when I glare at them. It’s good they’re not going to try that bully shit any longer, because I won’t put it up with it.

Sonia sighs in my arms, then pulls away from me, a tinge of something less-happy in her eyes now. She leans up and kisses me lightly on the lips.

“That was really sweet of you, Boyd. You didn’t have to lie for me.”

“It was my pleasure, Sonia. I’m dead serious.”

“It was worth it,” she giggles, her eyes filling with delight, “to see the look on Annabelle’s face.”

“You know her?”

“Unfortunately. We went to school together. This city isn’t that big and neither of us have left. I suppose we’re cursed to cross paths.” She shrugs, some of the light leaving her eyes. “In any case, you showed up! It means a lot that you came tonight.”

I stare into her eyes, trying to convey all the feelings I’ve held for her, but have been too scared to admit even to myself.

“I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. I know I’m not…showing emotion doesn’t come easy to me. You’re a special woman, Sonia. I’ll always show up for you. You can always count on me.” I mean every word as I pull Sonia into my arms, savoring the feel of her soft curves against my body. She has the lush body of a woman, the kind of body that makes you want to spend a lifetime in bed, showing her just how irresistible she is.

“You’re just…”

“I hate to break up this moment,” a smiling redhead says, “but I must steal the birthday girl. Join us for some cake?”

The depth of my emotions overwhelms me and I’m instantly uncomfortable. I’m not one for making myself vulnerable to another person and, as much as I meant everything I’ve said to Sonia and as much as I want her, the rawness of what I’m feeling scares me.

“I… I should let you celebrate with your friends. Happy birthday, Sonia.”

I pull her close to me again for one last hug, then kiss her one last time before letting her go. Everything about Sonia is perfect. I don’t want to let her go, but I have to. I’m all wrong for her, even if I want her more than anything else in the world. She deserves a better man than me.

“No. Please, stay.” Sonia laces her fingers through mine and holds my hand so tightly I don’t think she’s ever going to let go. The look in her blue eyes is at once fierce and vulnerable and raw. In a flash, I realize this is it. If I leave her now, there won’t be another chance.
