Twist Me by Mia Monroe

Grey

When I open my eyes, my bed is empty. I sit up, dragging my fingers through my tangled hair. My body is sore, but the feeling brings a smile to my face as last night’s events replay in my mind, sending a swoosh of heat through me. I climb out of bed, shuffling to the bathroom to pee and brush my teeth before going in search of Mitsu. I find him standing in my kitchen and filling two mugs with coffee.

“Good morning, beloved. Sleep well?”

“Amazing. You?”

“Always do when you’re next to me.”

I watch as he puts two teaspoons of sugar in mine before handing it to me.

“Thank you.”

He nods, sipping his coffee. “What are your plans for today?”

“I have to go in later. You?”

“A workshop at two. Will you have dinner with me tonight?”

“Any night. All the nights.”

Mitsu smiles. “Music to my ears. I adore you, Grey. My life is so much more with you in it. It’s as if my world was in black and white: monotone and dimly lit until you entered it. Now it’s in vivid color: bright and full of energy. You have renewed my soul.”

“Gah.” I shake my head. “You blow me away.”

Mitsu pokes my tummy, smiling. “You blow me away. Last night was by far the hottest sex of my life.”

“Obviously, same.” I laugh softly. “You have to keep me now. You’re my first, and no other mortal man could ever live up to what you’ve given me.”

Mitsu’s face reacts. “Wow.”

“What?”

“I’ve never been known to experience jealousy, but the very idea of you being with someone other than me is unpleasant.”

I reach out and grip his hand. “It’ll never happen.”

“I will do everything in my power to ensure it doesn’t. Your happiness is everything. It is above my own because without yours, mine simply cannot exist.”

I set my mug down and walk into his arms, inhaling his scent as his warmth envelops me. “I love you.”

Mitsu kisses my neck, hugging me even tighter. “I love you more.”

I pull back with a grin. “No. I love you more.”

He shakes his head, a smile dancing in his eyes. “Impossible.”

“Challenge accepted.”

We both laugh.
