Omega Found by E.L. Rose
Cam
Ronnie had burst into the house two days earlier screaming and crying. Grady had to grab her to try and calm her down, trying to get her to speak.
We noticed Honey was missing maybe twenty minutes after she slipped out. The note was found by Grady who howled his grief into the night. Honey was smart not closing her link until she was well out of reach. That is why none of us knew she was missing until it was too late.
Ronnie was finally able to gain control of herself, telling us in horrific detail everything that transpired. Roman had completely lost it, he went into his room and destroyed everything.
When everything finally fell silent, I went into his room and there was blood covering his face, but what made me stop short were the tears in his eyes. I wasn’t sure if he would accept me into his space, but I trudged in any way. Reaching out, he collapsed into my arms and together we sat in the middle of the wreckage that was his room.
“Cam, why didn’t she come to us? I can’t lose her; I feel like my heart is slowly dying in my chest.”
He pulled me closer, through the bond I felt his despair matching mine perfectly. I don’t know how long we sat there, but the ringing of Roman’s phone shocked us out of our stupor.
He grabs the phone, his voice snarling and deadly. “Lila, you better fucking have something useful to say to me.” He goes silent as the caller known as Lila answers him. Snarling and throwing his phone he stomps around. He turns to look me in the face. “They haven’t seen her or him and while they are sending security here and around the area, they do not know where to look.”
The rage that overflows me makes my canines descend. We called the council immediately, and they have been dragging ass, stating someone betrayed them and they did not know if they were in danger, so of course our mate was the last priority. That is until Roman threatened to throw his entire clan against them.
We head back downstairs, and I see Syler stand up and walk towards me. I hear the growl coming from my throat, he better not start shit, or I will kill him this time.
“Whoa, Cam, I just wanted to tell you, you are Alpha now, call the guards here. I took my claim away and made it known to my father.” He winces when he says that, almost like he is getting hit right now. I know how hard that had to be for him to do. “While he is a mean son of a bitch, he follows rules, and knows I was rightfully beaten.”
We all move to the living room, each of us nervously sitting around trying to feel any part of Honey. I take my phone out and call my mother. “Mother.” I say in greeting, it sounds stiff, but I know she won’t hold it against me.
“Cam, my sweet boy, are you all okay over there?” Her concern goes right to my heart and I almost break down again. Clearing my throat to not make a fool of myself I ask her about the security team made just for the future Alpha. The team comprises an army like force of Alpha and Betas, occasionally a Gamma who would make it in by pure strength.
“Cam, they will arrive by tomorrow, then you can use their knowledge to track Honey and her dad. Pierre is among them.” That makes me smile slightly, Pierre is the only Gamma wolf on the team, and is one of the best trackers we have.
Hanging up the phone, I tell the others what my mom said when complete pain and panic hits the bond with such force, everyone doubles over.
I am mid shift when I realize it’s Honey, she is still alive, which fills me with a moment of happiness until I realize how much pain and panic, I feel from her end. He is hurting my mate. Grady storms outside and I follow him. “Grady, I know now may not be the perfect time, but be my Beta. Run the pack with me. I need one.”
“Shit timing for real, Cam, but I will accept.” He nods towards the woods. “I need to run some of this anger out, care to join me?”
I nod my head undressing when the door opens again and Ronnie is standing there. Her eyes averted over our head with Syler behind her.
“Can we join you? I need to run as well, I feel like I am trapped here, please.”
Sighing, I nod at both of them to come over and strip. Keeping my eyes off Ronnie, we all shift within seconds of one another, me leading the pack. We race into the woods, and I feel my wolf wanting to howl, so I do. I howl loud and long with Grady and Syler responding with a howl of their own.
My mind won’t stop replaying my time with Honey, from the first time she opened the door in her t-shirt when she came to the school. Her smile was so hesitant and unsure. The first time I started defense class with her and had her pinned beneath me, the way my body reacted, I should have known right there I was a goner. I was in love with her from the moment she smiled at me in the dining hall.
Moving back to the cabin, we sit in silence and wait. Trying to feel anything from Honey, trying to not break down, waiting for a sliver of hope. Anything to help us find our mate.
