Rejected Wolf by Rae Foxx

“Who the fuck is this asshole?”Titus turned to me, his anger apparent through his steely gaze and deeply furrowed brow. Seeing that asshole standing there froze me to the spot. I didn’t immediately answer and Titus stepped forward, overshadowing me.

“Lizzie, I swear if you don’t tell me now I’m about to kill someone who is on our side, just for looking at you the way he is now.”

I shook my brain back into place, “This is Hutch, the Alpha’s son.”

Hutch pushed aside the door debris and stepped all the way inside. I expected my wolf to react to him somehow but it didn’t happen. Huh. “She’s my mate. That’s what she is. Lizzie, I was wrong. You and I belong together. I know the truth now. You are mine. I know you feel it.”

His words were as hollow as the air I breathed. There was no more attachment there, not even a hair’s width of it. A smile grew on my face as I realized the connection I had once lamented had now been thoroughly broken, replaced by something neither time or blood could break.

“She’s not yours anymore, pup. She’s ours. Mated and bonded by blood. Even your kind can’t mess with a bond as strong as that. Now, are you going to go quietly or do I get the satisfaction of breaking you apart bone by bone?” Henry’s voice was low and menacing as he strolled forward and got in Hutch’s face.

Hutch bowed up, his shoulders square. He tried to look tough and intimidating but nothing was as intimidating as my three men. Nothing.

“She’s mine by rights. She belongs to this pack.”

Titus wasted no time. “Fuck that. I’m shredding the dog.” He grabbed Hutch by the neck and slammed him against the nearest wall. The shack’s wall bowed under his strength but Hutch wasn’t alone. I braced myself for a fight, I knew I had to protect Ruth. She may be a witch but in the scuffle between vampire and shifter, no one was safe from the blowback. Reggie and Henry went to blows with Hutch’s betas and crew who had shifted to wolves and were attacking my vamps with all the fury they could muster. I heard the piercing whine of wolves as Reggie took two in his hands and flew with them, ramming them outside into the nearest tree trunks.

“Poppy, mate of mine, I think I’ve found my power.” Henry touched one of the wolves and he turned to stone instantly. Not in the way that he was made of rock but in the way that he was rendered still as a statue.

“I can see that.”

Ruth pushed against my chest as I tried to protect her. “I’m not helpless, Lizzie. Let go of me.”

“I know but I’m trying to help you the way you helped me all my life.”

She laughed while extending her hands toward a group of wolves that Titus was playing with. They weren’t even formidable opponents. Their fighting ability was pathetic against my vamps. Probably too many weekends blown away drinking and fucking when they could’ve been learning to fight or just being decent people.

“I thought I killed you,” The Alpha’s voice worked on me like Henry’s new power, stilling me in place, taking the breath from my lungs. He still got to me after everything we’d been through. I felt like a twelve year old in his presence.

“Oh, that was you. Thanks for identifying yourself, asshole.” Titus plowed through the pile of nearly dead wolves and took the Alpha by the neck just as he had Hutch. He raised him in the air while the Alpha’s legs dangled, his face reddening more and more by the second.

“She belongs here. She is my wolf. She was born here.”

Titus chuckled. “Oh, we know the story. You killed her parents. Now the debt must be repaid.”

Titus held out the Alpha like a freshly caught trout. “Lizzie, would you like the honors, mate?”

I trembled in place, but knew the deed must be done. But in my hesitation, the Alpha wiggled free and managed to sprint away.

Hutch was dead. The betas were dead.

The Alpha had forsaken his pack.

“Lizzie, you know what happens when an Alpha relinquishes his post, right?” Ruth turned to me, grinning. But I was pretty sure I was cracking under the pressure.

First, I’m a vampire princess and now...

‘Ruth…” My voice sounded far away like it was coming from someone else. “What happens?”
