Twist Me by Mia Monroe

“I have a question.”

It’s been a few weeks of hanging out and gently learning about each other, our evening meals turning into frequent occurrences.

I finish chewing my bite of noodles. “Ask me anything.”

“If I told you I wanted to try the ropes, would you work with me?”

I nearly drop my fork, but I do my best to remain calm in case he’s just feeling things out. “That goes without question. I would love to introduce you to my art.”

He nods, filling his mouth with his dinner. We eat in silence for a few minutes, but I’m brimming over with questions and anticipation. Grey is heavy in thought. I’ve come to recognize the faraway look in his eyes. I’ll give him the space he needs to consider it.

After our meals are finished, Grey looks over at me. “I’m ready.”

“For?”

He looks me straight in the eye. “The ropes.”

My reaction is mild. I don’t want him to freak out over how excited I am. Every nerve in my body is on alert now, tingling with energy.

“Just say when.”

“Now. Tonight.”

“Grey.” I clear my throat. “It’s a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Have you thought about—”

“I haven’t thought about anything else since the first time I was in the garden. I want to experience it. I think…” He tucks his hair behind his ear. “I think I’m emotionally ready to try now. I trust you.”

I take his hand in mind, brushing my finger across the top. “There are no words to express how much I’d enjoy this with you. I think you’ll be stunning.”

A tentative smile pulls at his lips. “Then let’s do this.”
